Frequently Asked Questions About Dog Training

What makes Blue Line K-9's dog training different from other trainers?

Blue Line K-9 focuses on balanced, customized training that builds reliable obedience and off-leash freedom while strengthening the bond between you and your dog. Each program is tailored to your dog's specific needs and includes lifetime support at most locations, so you can keep results sharp over time.

What dog behavior problems can Blue Line K-9 help with?

Blue Line K-9 helps with jumping, chewing, biting, separation anxiety, dog aggression, excessive barking, and poor leash manners. We use targeted behavior modification plans to address the root cause of problems so your dog becomes calm, confident, and easier to live with.

How old should my puppy be to start dog training?

You can start basic training and routines the moment you bring your puppy home. For one-on-one work with a trainer, Blue Line K-9 typically recommends dogs be at least 16 weeks old. We offer special puppy classes and an online Puppy Jump Start program for younger puppies.

What dog training programs does Blue Line K-9 offer and how long do they take?

Blue Line K-9 offers 2-week board and train camps, private lessons, puppy programs, group classes, and custom behavior modification programs. Depending on your goals, training can range from a 2-week intensive stay to 4-8 weeks of weekly lessons or multi-week group classes.

What is an e-collar for dog training and how does it work?

An e-collar is a remote training collar that uses gentle stimulation—similar to a phone vibration—to get your dog's attention up to about 400 yards away. It acts like an invisible leash, giving your dog more freedom while helping you communicate clearly and keep them safe off-leash.

Will an e-collar hurt my dog?

No, the e-collar is designed to be safe and mild, not painful. Trainers even demonstrate it on their own arms so you can feel that it's more like a light tap than a shock, and it's never used to scare or punish your dog.

Will my dog always need to wear the e-collar?

Your dog won't need the e-collar for everyday life inside the home once they learn the commands. Blue Line K-9 recommends using it outdoors and off-leash—like a seatbelt for kids—to maintain control in unpredictable situations and keep your dog safe.

Do dogs like training with an e-collar?

Most dogs quickly associate the e-collar with fun, freedom, and going outside to train or play. Many run over when they hear the collar beep because it means it's time for engaging activities that keep them mentally and physically satisfied.
